Obituary of Dorothy Chamberlain
Dorothy Ethel Chamberlain, 88, Wisconsin Rapids, died Tuesday morning, February 05, 2013 at Wisconsin Rapids Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 9th at Saratoga Moravian Church. Rev. Jason Andersen will officiate. Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery in the township of Saratoga. Visitation will be from 4-7pm on Friday at the church and from 10:00 am until the time of the service on Saturday at the church.
Dorothy was born in Arpin, Wisconsin on May 7, 1924 to Carl and Madelene (Ewell) Phillips. She married Archie Chamberlain on June 5, 1943 in Wisconsin Rapids. He died on July 30, 2005.
Dorothy was employed by Riverview Hospital in the central service department until her retirement in 1988.
She was an active member of the Saratoga Moravian church and sang in the choir for many years.
Dorothy was a very generous and loving person who enjoyed being a homemaker, celebrating each new birth as her family grew. She was a great cook. Her home always smelled of home-baked bread, cookies or any manner of comfort food. Her pies were legendary. Dorothy enjoyed embroidery, playing cribbage and working in her vegetable and flower gardens. In their younger years, she and Archie enjoyed camping and going on fishing trips together.
Survivors include two daughters: Yvonne Chamberlain-Casas (Alfredo); Diane (Robert) Renner, all of Wisconsin Rapids; two sons: Howard (Barbara) Chamberlain, Wisconsin Rapids; William Chamberlain, Woodstock, IL; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren; and the sister of her heart, Shirley Marquardt. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers: Charles, Bernard, Robert, and James; and three sisters: Mildred Oleson, Hazel Botcher, and Cora Behrend.
Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center is assisting the family with arrangements.
