Obituary of Betty Halpin
Betty J. Halpin, 82, formerly of Wisconsin Rapids, was summoned to our Lord on Thursday, February 21, 2013, at House of the Dove in Marshfield.
Services will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February, 26th at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Rev. Charles Bradbury will officiate. Interment will be at a later date in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 pm on Monday, and from 10-11 am on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Betty was born in the town of Dayton, in Waupaca County on January 7, 1931 to Donald and Della (Isaac) Grogan. She married Gene Halpin in 1964. He died in 1998. Prior marriages to Charles Filocco and George Neukirchen ended in divorce.
Betty was employed for Johnson Hills Department Store and Shopko as a manager.
She was very active in her memberships of the First Baptist Church, a domino group, AARP of Nekoosa, VFW Auxiliary 2534, and Red Hats. Betty also volunteered, along with her husband, Gene, for the Veterans Home in King, WI for 25 years.
Betty loved life and people. To know her was to love her. She enjoyed playing cards, traveling, going to casinos, and taking car trips.
She is survived by daughter: Debra (Bob) Costa; son: Gary (Mary) Filocco; granddaughters: Krystal (Scott) Friemark and Tammy Lor; grandson: Troy Filocco; great-granddaughter: Morgan; sister-in-law: Mildred Humphrey; nieces: Ann Smith, Connie Hohenstien, Carol Elmhurst, Francis Hubbard, and Terry Callahan; nephews: Melvin Falkner, Brian, Arnold, Steve, Jerry, Phil and Van Humphrey, Mike, Bill, Doug, and Jim Cummings, and all their children; very special friends: Melva Eswein, Carol Davis, Tom, April, Kendra, and Nick Randrup, and Gordy Harmon. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Gene.
The family wishes to thank Aspirus Wausau Hospital, Dr. Tim Loggeman and Jeff Kaliebe and their staff members for their love and support for Betty. A great big thank you to the staff members of the House of the Dove for their care and love for Betty also.
