Obituary of Clarence Krehnke

Clarence ?Kink? William Krehnke, 90, Wisconsin Rapids, died Thursday, February 28, 2013 at Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids. Services will be at 11:00 am on Monday, March 4th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Edwards. Rev. Daniel Bohn will officiate. Burial with military rites will be in Port Edwards Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2pm until 5pm on Sunday, March 3rd at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Wisconsin Rapids and from 10:00 am until the time of services on Monday at the church. Clarence was born in Port Edwards, Wisconsin on January 7, 1923 to Otto and Mary (Meyers) Krehnke. He married Dorothy ?Dotty? Paulson on January 10, 1945 at the home of Dotty?s parents, Orin and Blanche Paulson in Port Edwards. Clarence graduated from John Edwards High School in 1942. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Port Edwards, WI, where he served as an elder, trustee, taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir. Clarence served his country in the US Navy from 1942-1945 during World War II. He survived the attack of the Japanese bombing of the USS Bunker Hill aircraft carrier although he was injured. He also took part in the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. Clarence was a lifetime member of D.A.V., serving as post commander. Clarence was employed by the Nekoosa Edwards Paper Co. in both the Port Edwards and Nekoosa mills for 42½ years until his retirement in 1985. During his spare time, Clarence enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and watching Packer games. He was always ready and willing to help others in their time of need. Survivors include his wife: Dorothy ?Dotty?; daughter: Anita Krehnke, of Minneapolis; and sister-in-law: Nancy Benson, of Suring, WI. He was preceded in death by his son, Bruce, parents, Otto and Mary (Meyers) Krehnke and siblings, Margaret Kaplanek, Kenneth Krehnke, Charles Krehnke, infant sister, Dorothy and infant brother, Edward. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to a memorial that will be established by Clarence?s family.
