Violet was born July 29, 1922 in Ottawa, IL to Edward and Dorothy (Hornbeck) Saager. After graduating from high school, she attended business school. During WWII, Violet worked for Libby Owen Ford making canopies for military aircraft. In 1948, she married Richard Wallington in Almond, WI. The couple was blessed with two children; Rick and Kim. During these early years, Violet worked as a secretary for the Nepko Mill, Gross Common Carrier and Wood County Emergency Services before leaving the work force to stay home with her children. Sadly, Richard died in 1966 after 18 years of marriage. Love found Violet once again when she married Fred Zimmerman on October 12, 1969 in Port Edwards. They celebrated 24 years together prior to Fred?s death on September 26, 1994.
Violet was a spirited and determined woman who enjoyed going into Chicago in her early years to go dancing to the big band music and traveling in her later years, especially to Las Vegas. She was a huge Green Pay Packers fan and in her free time enjoyed playing bingo and shopping.
Violet is survived by her children, Rick Wallington and Kim (Jeff) Clark both of Wisconsin Rapids; grandchildren, Justin Clark of Plover, Jordan Clark and Ashley Clark both of LaCrosse; nephew, Rod Kline of New Orleans, LA; and extended family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husbands; parents; and sisters, Audrey Saager and Bobbie Kline.
