Obituary of Douglas Fellion
Douglas Clarence Fellion, 82, of Wisconsin Rapids, died Saturday, March 9, 2013 at Wisconsin Rapids Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
A Celebration of Life service will be at 7:00 PM on Friday, March 16th at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until the time of services on Friday at the funeral home. Military honors will be provided by VFW Post 2534.
Doug was born in Racine, Wisconsin on December 4, 1930 to Earl and Agnes (Corbelle) Fellion. He married Charlotte Tuma on August 28, 1954. She preceded him in death on October 12, 1966. He then married Shirley Schmidt on July 27, 1968. Their marriage ended in divorce. For the past 18 years, Doug has had a loving relationship with Christine ?Chris? Meyer.
Doug served his country in the United States Air Force from 1951-1955. After returning home from service, he began working for his family business, Fellion?s Body Shop and worked there until 1968. In 1970, he moved to the Wisconsin Rapids area and began employment as a serviceman for Northern Propane, which was later known as Ferrell Gas. He retired from Ferrell Gas in 1995.
Doug?s passion in life was making music. He was a member of the local country band Chordaires and played bass guitar and harmonica. For the past ten years, he enjoyed singing karaoke on Wednesday and Friday nights with his friends. Doug was a skilled craftsman who built his own home and made many things for his children and grandchildren. He was a very generous person who contributed to many charitable organizations. Doug had a love of the outdoors and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping trips to Gresham. He had a soft spot for animals and enjoyed feeding the birds, deer, and other wildlife that frequented his yard.
Doug is survived by his loving companion, Chris Meyer of Appleton; one daughter, Charleen Fellion of Wisconsin Rapids; two sons: Kenneth and David Fellion of Oregon; one granddaughter, Crystal Brown of Nekoosa and her daughters Kaylee and Khira Fellion-Brown. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Charlotte.
Memorials may be designated to the Veterans Assistance Center for homeless and at-risk veterans located at the Wisconsin Veterans Home at King.
