Obituary of Robert Dilley

Robert E. Dilley, 82, of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, died unexpectedly at his residence on Saturday, March 30, 2013. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 5th at St. Luke?s Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Thomas Graves will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids and from 10:00 AM until the time of services on Friday at the church. Robert was born August 10, 1930 in Upland, Indiana, the son of Orus and Nellie Dilley. He married Betty Van Preter on Friday the 13th of March, 1949, at high noon in a feed mill in Hartford City, Indiana. The couple was blessed with 61 years of marriage. Betty died November 18, 2010. He graduated from Mississinawa High School in Gas City, Indiana where he lettered in basketball. He later earned a degree in accounting from an area business college. Robert worked as assistant comptroller for CW Transport in Wisconsin Rapids and later worked in finance for Rainbow Casino in Nekoosa. Robert loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping, boating and waterskiing. He and Betty enjoyed dancing together. He was avid sports fan and enjoyed watching basketball and Packer games. Robert loved life and enjoyed being with his wife and four daughters. Survivors include his four daughters: Pamela Enerson of Wisconsin Rapids, Sheveney (Jerry) Verhulst of Marshfield, Bronwyn Dilley of Bancroft, and Bobbie Dilley of Wisconsin Rapids; seven grandchildren: Abbi (Roger), Angie, Brooke, Eddie, Holly (Casey), Mandy (Nate) and Nicholas; eight great-grandchildren: Hunter, Kylee, Tommie, Ryan, Reegan, Sterling, Luke and Zach; three step-grandchildren: Nikki, Jeremy (Erinn) and Christopher; four step-great-grandchildren: Eli, Sydney, Kaiden and Cierra; one brother-in-law, Thomas (Becky) Graves of Marion, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Betty, and brother-in-law Jerry Graves. A memorial will be established by the family at a later date.
