Obituary of Marjorie Steward
Marjorie Virginia Steward, 83, Wisconsin Rapids, went home to be with her Lord Sunday, March 31, 2013 at the Wisconsin Rapids Nursing and Rehab Center.
Services will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 4 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wisconsin Rapids. Reverend John Grohs will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Town of Grand Rapids. Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the time of services at the church on Thursday.
Marjorie was born July 11, 1929 in Wisconsin Rapids to Fred and Gertrude Kester. She attended Immanuel Lutheran Grade School and graduated from Lincoln High School. Marjorie married the love of her life, Charles ?Doc? Steward on August 2, 1952 in Wisconsin Rapids. The happy couple was blessed with three children: Kathleen, Donald and Janet. Marjorie and Doc celebrated 49 wonderful years together prior to his passing on March 22, 2002.
Marjorie?s passions in life were being a wonderful wife to Doc, a devoted mother to her children and loving grandmother. She was a woman who never complained and always ?thanked God for all the blessings in life? and lived her Christian faith daily taking care of those less fortunate than herself. Marjorie taught Sunday school at Immanuel for 31 years and served in the homebound ministry with Doc.
Marjorie loved children and took an active interest to listen and sincerely take to heart what they had to say. She was a wonderful cook and baker, never having a person leave her home hungry. In her free time, Marjorie enjoyed working in her garden growing flowers and vegetables that she would can for future meals.
Marjorie is survived by her loving children, Kathleen Steward of Green Bay, Dr. Donald (Jodi) Steward of Fond du Lac and Janet (James) Giese of Wisconsin Rapids; grandchildren, Matthew (Kris) Stensberg, Jacob Stensberg, Erin Steward and Austin Steward; sister-in-law, Mae Kester; special niece and nephew, Susan Losen and Fred (Marcia) Hoffman; and all her nieces and nephews and their families that she loved dearly. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and siblings, Donald Kester, James Kester and Alma Hoffman.
A very special word of thanks goes to all of Marjorie?s care providers at the Wisconsin Rapids Nursing and Rehab Center for their kind and compassionate care over the past few years.
