Obituary of Dorothy Manz

Dorothy L. Manz, 97, Wisconsin Rapids, died early Friday, April 26, 2013 at Riverview Medical Center in Wisconsin Rapids. Services will be at 1:30 pm on Monday, April 29th at St. Paul?s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Rev. James Douglas will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:30 am until the time of services on Monday at the church. Dorothy was born in Wisconsin Rapids, WI on August 5, 1915 to Martin and Minnie (Brehm) Zuege. She married Walter Manz on May 2, 1932 in Waukegan, IL. He died on March 20, 1995. Dorothy did seasonal work for employers in the area: in spring for Nepko Nursery; in the summer for the canning factory; and in the fall for Ocean Spray Cranberry Company. She was a member of St. Paul?s Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Dorothy was a hard working woman who enjoyed her life and her family immensely. She was a good cook and baker who loved entertaining her family, especially during the holidays. A person could always find dreamcicles and fig newtons in Dorothy?s kitchen. In her free time Dorothy enjoyed playing cards, knitting, crocheting and traveling. Survivors include son: Jere (Carole) Manz; 9 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 12 step- great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; 7 step-great-great grandchildren; daughters-in-law: Janet Manz and Barbara Manz; siblings: Lynette (Russell) Wilson, Elton (Elaine) Zuege, Joyce (Merlin) Marti, Betty Tuxhorn, and Ronald Zuege; extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sons: Robert and James; sister, Lucille Ashenberg; infant brother, Delton; 2 grandchildren; step-granddaughter, Pamela Ann; and brother-in-laws, Florin Ashenberg and Delbert Tuxhorn. In lieu of flowers memorials may be designated to St. Paul?s Evangelical Lutheran Church. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center is assisting the family.
