Obituary of Carol Kertis

Carol Jean Kertis, 71, Town of Grant, died Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Ministry Saint Joseph?s Hospital in Marshfield, WI. Services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 1st at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Rev. Daniel Bohn will officiate. Burial will be in Plainfield Cemetery in Plainfield, WI. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM ? 8:00 PM on Friday, May 31st at the funeral home, and on Saturday at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until the time of services. Carol was born in Lincoln Township, Adams County, WI on April 9, 1942 to John and Tressie (Nelson) Courter. She married Laverne ?Bud? Kertis on November 28, 1959 at St. John Lutheran Church in Kellner, WI. After 49 wonderful years of marriage, he died on September 13, 2009. Carol worked for various food industry companies in the area as a production worker. Celestial Farms, Ore Ida and McCain Foods were a few of her employers. However, she loved her role as farm wife the most, as she loved to use her cooking skills for her family creating delicious meals and the best pies. Carol also enjoyed sewing baby quilts and clothing for her children, spending time in the garden, and going out to eat with her mother and sister on Sunday mornings. Survivors include four children: Cindy (Eric) Stigen, Etowah, TN; Laurie (James ?Ace?) Anderson, Wisconsin Rapids, WI; Linda Kertis, Wisconsin Rapids, WI; Laverne Kertis, Jr., Elgrin, IL; grandchildren: Curtis Stigen, Brooke Stigen, and Ashley Kertis; mother: Tressie Courter, Bancroft, WI; sister: Virginia (Jerry) Hansen, Bancroft, WI; extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, sister, Betty Keenlance, and brother, Donald Courter.
