Obituary of Velma Peik

Velma V. Peik, 93, Wisconsin Rapids, died Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home in Port Edwards. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Arpin Community Cemetery in Arpin. Velma was born in Berkley Springs, WV, Stotler?s Crossing, on December 17, 1917 to Nelson and Elizabeth (Miller) Stotler. She married Henry Peik on September 7, 1947. He preceded her in death one week ago, July 19, 2013. Velma and her husband Henry farmed and resided in the Vesper area for several years. After Henry retired the couple moved to Las Vegas where they resided for 25 years before moving to Wisconsin Rapids in 2010. Survivors include four daughters: Evelyn (Robert) McBride, Las Vegas, NV; Dianne Hanneman, Rockford, IL; Betty (Roger) Worth, Oconomowoc, WI; Carolyn (Alan) Wolcott, Wisconsin Rapids, WI; 7 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband Henry, she was preceded in death by her parents, two grandsons, one son-in-law, and nine brothers and sisters. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center is assisting the family with arrangements.
