Obituary of Dorothy Tyler
Dorothy Ann Tyler, 90, Vesper, died early Wednesday morning, August 14, 2013 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Services will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 19th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vesper. Rev. Douglas Schalow will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of services on Monday at the church. Burial will be at a later date in Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Dorothy was born in the Pittsville, WI on August 9, 1923 to Max and Elsie (Werth) Schiller. She married Ronald Tyler on August 23, 1969 in Vesper.
Dorothy began her working career at Weinbrenner Shoe Factory, and was then employed by Weyerhaeuser Inc. until her retirement. After retirement, she worked part time for Figi?s Inc.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Vesper and the Ladies Aid, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 520, and a Vesper Lioness. Dorothy enjoyed working in the kitchen for these organizations especially for the Legion chili feeds. She also took care of the Vesper baseball diamond for several years.
Dorothy was a beautiful person with a kind, compassionate heart. She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening, especially gladiolas, traveling to California to visit her sister, and staying at the cottage on Pelican Lake. She loved to play any card game during family get togethers. She enjoyed having many dogs over the years and was particularly fond of her current dog, Quennie.
Survivors include her husband, Ronald, Vesper; son, Jerry Johnson, Marshfield; granddaughter, Tonya Johnson, Wisconsin Rapids; four great-grandchildren; siblings: Velma Gleisner, Arpin; Ronald Schiller, Montello, and Evelyn Walker, Shafter, California; and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings: Elsie Yoss, Otto Schiller, Freida Truschinski, Esther Yoss, Gordon Schiller, Carl Schiller, William Schiller, Marvin Schiller, Leona Schiller, William Schiller, and one in infancy.
Memorials may be designated to Trinity Lutheran Church.
