Obituary of Robert Bemke

Robert J. Bemke, 78, of Wisconsin Rapids, died Sunday August 18, 2013 at Strawberry Lane Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Wisconsin Rapids. Services will be at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, August 22nd at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Rev. John Steiner will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until the time of services on Thursday at the funeral home. Robert was born in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin on July 14, 1935 to Alex and Eva (Zakowski) Bemke. He married Margo Pflanzer on August 4, 1967. She died January 14, 2011. Robert served his country in the National Guard for eight years. He was employed by Consoweld Corporation from 1954 to 1988. He worked in the Consolidated River Division from 1988 until his retirement in 1998. Following his retirement, he worked for Building Blocks Learning Center. Robert started playing softball at a young age, enjoying the sport for 50 years. He coached Little League baseball, girl?s softball and men?s softball. He also liked soccer, loved to fish and hunt, and enjoyed having coffee with the guys at McDonalds. Survivors include three daughters: Andrea (Bryan) Peterson, DeForest, WI; Amber (Rick) Hart, Ocoee, FL; and Bobbi (Jeremy) Lambrecht, Flower Mound, TX; two brothers: Donald (Nancy) Bemke and George Bemke, all of Wisconsin Rapids; one sister: Eleanor Bockenfeld, Milwaukee, WI; three grandchildren: Alexis Peterson, Xavier and MaKenzie Lambrecht; sister-in-law: Rita Bemke; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margo Bemke; parents, Eva and Alex Bemke; two brothers, Bernard and LaVern Bemke; sister, Grace (John) Johnson; brother-in-law, Charles Bockenfeld; and sister-in-law, Irene Bemke.
