Clare and CharlotteWe are so very sorry to hear about the loss of Jacob. Although we never met him, we could certainly tell what a great person he was through your stories that you shared. It is obvious that he was greatly loved and had a passion for life. Although he may not be with you in person, he will always be forever in your hearts.

It seems like just yesterday my twin sister Charlotte and brother-in-law Clare brought home their adorable curly haired son. Our families tears do not stop. We hope we will eventually be able to smile again when we think of Jay and remember all of our happy memories we had with such a special guy. We all agree that to know Jay was to love him. His Grandma Pierce is probably making him "donuts" right now. We thank God for the nephew we loved so much and will cherish forever.

A lot of the best times I had growing up we're spent with my Uncle Clare, Aunt Charlotte, Jacob, Corey & Steve. I remember when Jacob was a baby and we called him "JJ". I remember roaming around that marsh on dirt bikes or that crazy little go-cart! Jacob was special to all of us. I am comforted by my memories and that we will meet again someday. When we do meet again we will take the speed governor off that go-cart and make it go a little faster! God bless you Jacob. Your cousin Todd.

Jay will be missed, but always remembered. This is one of my favorite memories. During the fall semester in 1986 at our house in Waseca, we sat out on the porch talking and Jay pointed out how brilliant the northern lights were and how they looked like a campfire. He talked about how cool it would be to be sitting around the campfire with a cold one and a big old chew. I said "why not!" Well, we didn't want to start a fire on the lawn so we fired up the wood stove in the garage which had a big open front and we sat around the fire telling stories, drinking beer, chewing and laughing. I don't mean "ha ha" laughing I'm talking belly laughing to the point that bladder control could be optional! That was one of the happiest times in my life. No responsibilities, commitments or worries. So when I look up and see the northern lights I think of that time in our lives and I know when my race is run and I'm on my way to heaven all I have to do is follow those northern lights and I know Jay will be there waiting next to the campfire doing the one hand tap to the top of his chew can saying "pull up a rock" and "cope (Copenhagen) with me and I'll bear (Kodiak) with you!". See ya later Jacob Karl

This is so very sad. I remember well the years that Jay was a part of my family. He was always wonderful to my son, Austin, and Austin greatly enjoyed all the time he was able to spend on the marshes with his Uncle Jay, Aunt Sharon, and cousins Savannah, Steph, and Jacob. I had not seen Jay in a few years, but I hold many fond memories of him.

Clare and Char, I am so sorry to learn that you and the rest of the family have lost Jacob. I remember meeting him when he was about 7 or so -- a big boy for his age. He left you way too soon, but it is good to read that his life was so full. He made the most of the time he had, but I'm sure he will be missed greatly.
