Obituary of Nora Noll
Nora Emily Noll, 93, Wisconsin Rapids, WI, went to be with the Lord early Friday, November 8, 2013 at the Wisconsin Rapids Nursing and Rehab Center in Wisconsin Rapids, WI.
Services will be held at 12:30 P.M. on Monday, November 11th at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Thomas Graves will officiate. Interment will be in Forest Hill Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 11:00 A.M. until the time of services on Monday at the funeral home.
Nora Emily Noll was born on March 7, 1920, on the family farm in the town of Armenia, the daughter of Henry and Leona (Frieke) Schmidt. She was the 3rd of nine children. She attended and graduated from Oak Ridge School in Armenia, WI. She started working at the young age of 17 as a cook at the hospital in Neillsville, WI for one year. She then worked as a cook and housekeeper for a doctor in Madison, WI.
Nora married George J. Noll on February 21, 1939 in Iowa. They opened the Grand Grill in Wisconsin Rapids, WI in 1949. In 1959 they opened Noll?s Café in Madison, WI. Her baking and cooking skills were well known. The Noll?s Café was often reported on in numerous articles in the Madison newspapers. Everyone enjoyed her cooking, especially her pies. Nora and George retired to their Wisconsin Rapids residence in 1985. In December 2012 Nora entered Wisconsin Rapids Nursing and Rehab Center.
Nora was a member of St. Luke?s Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids.
She is survived by two children: Beverly Elliott, Gilbert, AZ; George (Joyce) Noll, DeForest, WI; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother: Robert (Carol) Schmidt, Wisconsin Rapids; two sisters: Emily (Bernard) Winters, Wisconsin Rapids; Della Briski, Altoona, WI; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Nora was preceded in death by her husband, George, who passed away in December 1998; four brothers, one sister, two grandsons (Randy and Rick) and son-in-law John Elliott.
Nora?s family is thankful for the care she received at the Wisconsin Rapids Nursing and Rehab Center.
