Obituary of LeRoy Engelhardt

LeRoy ?Roy? Engelhardt, 89, of 444 Two Mile Avenue and Arborwood Lodge, died Monday, November 11, 2013 at Riverview Hospital after suffering complications following a fall. Mr. Engelhardt was born March 15, 1924 in Saginaw, Michigan to Herman and Alma Engelhardt. He married the former Arlene Papineau on July 12, 1947. Roy served in the army in the Pacific during World War II before completing his bachelor and master degrees at the University of Michigan. A life- long University of Michigan football fan, Roy was a generous benefactor to the university. Mr. Engelhardt started his financial career with the Chrysler Corporation as an auditor and continued as a consultant to the Diehl Corporation in Nurnberg Germany and as Assistant to the President of Genesee Brewery in Rochester, New York before joining Consolidated Papers in 1967 as Controller. Roy retired from Consolidated in 1989 as the Vice President, Finance and Director. During his 46 year residency in Wisconsin Rapids, Roy was an active member of the community serving many organizations. He was a member of Rotary and a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary Foundation. He served on the boards of the Riverview Hospital Association, the Riverview Health Care Foundation, the Central Wisconsin Cultural Center, and Bulls Eye Country Club. He was a member in good standing of the Wisconsin Rapids ?Has-Beens? Club. Roy is survived by his wife, Arlene; sons, Richard and Douglas (Kim), and daughter, K. Christine (Leslie) Littner; grandson Robert (Crystle) and four great granddaughters. He is predeceased by his parents, his sister (Verna Kayser) and his brother (Melvin Engelhardt). Family visitation will be held at the Herman-Taylor Funeral Home from 10 a.m. Monday, 18 November with a memorial service at 11.
