Obituary of Doris Overturf

Doris E. Overturf, 83, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Saturday, November 30, 2013, at Ministry Saint Joseph?s Hospital in Marshfield. Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 4th, at the Wisconsin Rapids Moravian Church. Rev. Mary Lou Plumber will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 P.M. until the time of services on Wednesday at the church. Doris was born on December 10, 1929 in Streator, Illinois to Charles and Emma (Bach) Richard. She graduated from Rudolph High School in 1948. She then attended the Normal School for Teaching. She married her high school sweetheart, Darrell Overturf, on December 27, 1951. The couple was blessed with 61 years of marriage. Doris was employed by Preway, where she assembled parts for fireplaces, Normington?s laundry, and Herschleb?s. Doris was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who was always there for her family. She enjoyed cooking, reading, listening to classic country music, and loved to decorate for all holidays. The family enjoyed summer vacations at Women?s Lake Lodge in Minnesota, where they enjoyed waterskiing and fishing. The couple liked to take trips to Branson and visited almost all of the states in the US. Doris is survived by her two children: Kevin (Lorraine) Overturf of Barnes and Jeri Schmitz of Wisconsin Rapids; four grandchildren: Doug (Stacy) Overturf of Wisconsin Rapids, Heather Schmitz and Holly Schmitz of Appleton, and Nathan (Lynelle) Overturf of Nekoosa; five great-grandchildren: Morgan, Ashlyn, Brendan, Aiden, and Abigail. She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Emma Richard and brothers, Orville and Wilford Richard, and great-granddaughter, Emma. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center is assisting the family.
