Obituary of Donald King

Donald Louis King, age 70, of Wisconsin Rapids, died Monday, December 9, 2013 at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home in Port Edwards. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, December 13th followed by a wake service at 7:00 PM at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center. A private family interment will be held on Saturday at Forest Hill Mausoleum. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Donald was born in Kenosha, WI on December 2, 1943 to Francis ?Fritz? and Dorothy (White) King. He married Judy Plahmer on May 18, 1963 at St. Vincent de Paul Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Donald worked for the caterpillar company for a brief time while living in Illinois before moving back to Wisconsin Rapids. He continued his work career for Great Northern/ Georgia Pacific Paper Mill in Port Edwards as a machine tender for 30 years until his retirement due to disability with Rheumatoid Arthritis. Donald enjoyed hunting with his black lab ?Pepper?, fishing, camping, antique tractors and going to tractor shows. He loved his quarter horse, Dallas, which he rode in horse shows, winning many ribbons and trophies. He also was a member of the Chug a Bugs snowmobile club. Survivors include his wife: Judy; son: Steve (Linda) King; daughter: Cheri (Andy) Ashbeck, all of Wisconsin Rapids; five grandchildren: Eric (Mandy) Adamski; Jessica (fiancé Justin Stewart) Adamski; and Aaron, Zachary and Ben King; two great-grandchildren: Logan and Lauren Adamski; brothers: Robin King, Wisconsin Rapids; George (Susan) King, California; and Jerry (Michelle) King, Wisconsin Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dave; sister, Marlene Leinweber; and infant brother, Richard. Memorials may be designated to the South Wood County Humane Society. Donald?s family would like to thank the staff of Edgewater Haven for their exceptional care during his brief stay with them.
