Obituary of Larry Daberkow

Larry R. Daberkow, age 73, of Wisconsin Rapids, died unexpectedly at his residence on Saturday, December 14, 2013. Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M on Friday, December 20th at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Brian Roehrborn will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in Bancroft. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Thursday and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services on Friday at the funeral home. Larry was born September 1, 1940 in Bancroft, WI to Fred A. and Agnes M. (Waller) Daberkow. He married Joanne A. Graichen on September 24, 1966 at St. John?s Lutheran Church in Almond, WI. Larry served his country in the United States Army from 1963-1965. He worked for Nekoosa Edwards Paper Company, later Great Northern and Georgia Pacific in Port Edwards as an accounting clerk. Larry was a member of St. John?s Lutheran Church in Almond. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time with Joanne at their cottage on Little Arbor Vitae Lake in Minocqua. In his younger years he played softball and pool for various teams in the surrounding area. Larry is survived by his wife, Joanne of Wisconsin Rapids; brother, Ronald Daberkow and sister, Joyce Daberkow both of Stevens Point; sister-in-law, Betty Daberkow of Bancroft; nephews: Rick Daberkow of Wild Rose and Bob (Judy) Daberkow of Sebastian, Florida; niece, Susan (Stan) Holm of Buckeye, Arizona; step niece and nephew, Heather Bielen and Travis Bielen; and grand nieces and nephews: Brianne (Chris) Kotolski, Gwen, Jack, and Grace Daberkow, and Hannah and Karyna Holm; and great niece and nephew, Shaylyn and Quin Kotolski. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Leland, infant brother, James, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Carl and Alta Graichen, and a very good friend, Eugene (Zeke) Hartman. Larry?s family would like to thank the Grand Rapids Police Department and United Emergency Medical Response for their quick response, efforts to save Larry?s life, and for being at Joanne?s side during this most difficult time.
