Obituary of Richard Anderson

Richard "Dick" Frank Anderson, age 78, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Wisconsin Veterans Home in King. Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at Saratoga Moravian Church. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services on Tuesday at the church. Burial will be at a later date at Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in King. Dick was born August 17, 1935 in Arpin, WI to Herbert and Hildegard (Breaker) Anderson. He married Sandra Schalla on March 30, 1979 at Saratoga Moravian Church. He was employed as a boiler operator at Consolidated Papers Inc. in the Kraft Division for 44 years. Dick served his country in the Army National Guard for 26 years, from 1953-1979. Dick was very involved in the National Guard during his time in service and was a proud member of American Legion Post 9. He was a very family oriented man and enjoyed being around his family as often as he could. Dick and Sandy were able to enjoy many winters in Florida and Texas. Dick is survived by his wife, Sandy of Wisconsin Rapids; five children: Patty (Walter) Tank and Dennis (Lisa) Anderson of Wisconsin Rapids, Kimberly Reshel of LaCrosse, Wendy Cates of Wisconsin Rapid, and Tracy (Kevin) Haupt of Rudolph; twelve grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and special friends Vicky and John Alft and Marlene Gaden of Wisconsin Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Kevin Anderson, brother, Lee Anderson, great-granddaughter, Abigail, and son-in-law, Michael Cates. Memorials may be designated to Saratoga Moravian Church, 11131 52nd Street South, Wisconsin Rapids, WI 54494 or to The Highground Veterans Memorial Park, W7031 Ridge Road, Neillsville, WI 54456. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center of Wisconsin Rapids is assisting the family.
