Obituary of Vicki Rose Gansch
Vicki Rose Gansch, age 60, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, January 18, 2014 following a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, January 24, 2014 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Rev. John Grohs will officiate. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services on Friday at the funeral home.
Vicki was born on March 4, 1953 in Wisconsin Rapids to William and Nona (Germann) Meier. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1971. On September 6, 1975, Vicki married Ron Gansch at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids.
Vicki worked for Carr Gotstein in Anchorage, Alaska, Sentry Insurance in Stevens Point, and also for Advantage Home Care as a caregiver for her handicap son.
Vicki's love for her family showed in all she did. She always put other's needs ahead of her own and was there to lend advice when needed. Whenever she spoke of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, her face would light up. Vicki was very involved with her children and their activities, always there to cheer them on. The closeness she shared with each one was beyond measure and her family was there for her right up to the end.
Vicki had such a passion for the great outdoors. She loved to go camping and fishing with the family. Nobody could build and tend a campfire like "Chief Crazy Aunt". Vicki will always be remembered for her easy laugh and compassion for others. She always saw the good in everyone.
Vicki is survived by her loving husband, Ron; two sons, Shayne Plawman of Wisconsin Rapids and Michael (Kari) Gansch of International Falls, MN; daughter, Mistique (Kerry) O'Day of Franklin,TN; grandchildren, Brittany Plawman, Cole Mann and Abby Kay Gansch, and Teegan and Daygan O'Day; great-grandchildren, Lilly and Anina Plawman; sister, Linda Tavener of Wisconsin Rapids; brother, William (Donna) Meier of Toivola, MI ; and mother-in-law, Lorraine Gansch of Wisconsin Rapids, and brother-in-law, Randy Gansch. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Nona Meier; father-in-law, Vic Gansch; brother-in-laws, Don Gansch and Ron Tavener; and a niece, Kelly Meier.
