Dorothy was born in Wisconsin Rapids, WI on May 16, 1920 to Carl and Anna (Saeger) Habeck. She attended Immanuel Lutheran Grade School, and graduated from Lincoln High School. She was confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Dorothy married the love of her life Salvatore "Eddie" Picozzi on November 23, 1968. Their love story ended too soon, as he passed away on December 26, 1970.
Dorothy worked for Consolidated Papers, Inc. in Wisconsin Rapids as a data entry operator for a short time before she moved to Florida. She continued her career in Florida working in a professional office until her retirement at the age of 82.
Dorothy was just as beautiful on the inside as she was in appearance. She dedicated her life to helping and giving to others in any way she could. Her yearly August visits to Wisconsin in the summer to her relative's homes were eagerly anticipated by everyone as they waited for their elegant "movie star" aunt to disembark from the airplane. Dorothy loved to journal and read her Bible daily. She looked to God's Word for inspiration and enjoyed sharing her faith with others. She also loved music and was a member of the Sweet Adeline's for several years.
Survivors include her brother: Charles W. (LaVerne) Habeck; sister-in-law: Nancy Habeck; nieces and nephews: Barbara (Gordon Sr.) Ahlf; Linda (Chuck) Cleary; David (Diane) Habeck; Donna (Dale) Hanneman; Alan (Cathy) Habeck; Thea (Brian) Hanson; Sherry (Jeff) Keinert; Sheila (Jim) Nelson; Debbie (Ralph) Kilby; Teri Schroeder; Mike (Jane) Habeck; Tim Habeck; Jenny Nash; and many great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Hazel (Jim) Goude, brothers, Gilbert (Grace), and Elmer, and nieces and nephew Kenneth Habeck, Lisa Habeck and Laurie Habeck.
Dorothy's family would like to thank the staff of Wisconsin Rapids Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and the doctors and nurses at Ministry Saint Joseph's Palliative Care for their exceptional care and concern for her. They would also like to extend an extra special thank you to the staff of The Renaissance for making the last three years of her life so special.
