Donn was born April 8, 1930 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Grant and Lydia (Clarstrom) Jacobs. His family later moved to Wisconsin Rapids. Donn graduated from Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids and worked in the lab at Consoweld Corporation and later in the Wisconsin Rapids, Biron, and Whiting mills of Consolidated Papers Inc. Donn retired with over 30 years of service with the company.
Donn married Lorraine Pribbanow on April 22, 1950 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Kellner. The couple was blessed with nearly 64 years of marriage and four children.
Donn was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Edwards where he served as an usher, elder, and trustee.
He was an excellent outdoorsman, and loved to hunt, fish, and go on family camping trips. He took great pride in organizing the annual Canadian fishing trips with family and friends. Donn was lovingly known as the "head of the herd." He was very close with his family and together they enjoyed many great times at the Reel Livin Resort on Lost Land Lake. Donn was the handyman for his entire family as he could fix just about anything. His last project was building birdhouses for his grandson. He closely followed his grandchildren in all of their activities. Donn loved to dance, especially to waltzes and was the "master sergeant Sheepshead player". He was a fan of the Badgers, Packers, and Brewers. He enjoyed a wonderful retirement and was able to spend many winters in Texas and Arizona with Lorraine and friends.
Donn is survived by his wife, Lorraine; four children: Susan (Craig Davidson) Hamilton of Wisconsin Rapids, Mike (Sandy) Jacobs of Richlands, NC, Danna (Alan) Campbell of Nekoosa, and Tom (Leslyn) Jacobs of Crivitz, WI; seven grandchildren: Thomas Babcock Jr., Timothy (Melissa) Babcock, Alan Campbell Jr., Andrew (Holly Powell) Campbell, Meghann Schumann, Ben Jacobs, and Leigh Jacobs; four great-grandchildren: Xander and Jake Schumann, Kiara Campbell, and Madison Babcock; two sisters: Lois Mansavage of Wisconsin Rapids and Marilyn Leder of Mayville, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
