Obituary of Doris M. Barnitz

Doris M. Barnitz, age 85, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, October 21, 2016 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Pastor Brian Berg will officiate. Burial will be at Meehan Cemetery in the Town of Plover. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services on Friday at the funeral home. Doris was born January 28, 1931 in Racine, Wisconsin to Roy and Fausta (Clendenning) Bulgrin. She worked in the Wisconsin Rapids area as a certified nursing assistant in nursing homes and doing home health care. She was most recently employed at Wal-Mart in Wisconsin Rapids. Doris' life was centered around her children and her grandchildren. She was extremely proud of being the mother of seven children. Doris loved to bake and would make delicious goodies for every family occasion and for area fundraisers. She enjoyed playing piano and doing ceramics. Doris had a special love of animals and fondly referred to them as her "babies". Doris is survived by six children: Mary Manning of Phoenix, AZ, LaVerne Pestka of Ontonagon, MI, Carol Howe of Wisconsin Rapids, Julie Gessert of Wisconsin Rapids, Laurie (Jeff) Pollard of Ontonagon, MI, and Glenn Ross of Wisconsin Rapids; seventeen grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Mal; step-father, Irving Schimke; son, Albert Clyde Ross Jr.; sister, LaVerne; and two brothers: Irving and Glenn.
