Obituary of Betty J. Panzer

Betty J. Panzer (Rogers), 81, Wisconsin Rapids, died Sunday, March 9, 2014 at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home. Betty was born in Wisconsin Rapids, WI on September 8, 1932 to Verlon M. and Theresa (Babcock) Rogers. She was raised by John and Sadie Black. Betty graduated from Lincoln High School in 1950. She married Gordon L. Panzer in October of that same year. They had seven lovely children together before their divorce in December of 1981. Betty was engaged to be married to James Knoll in November of 1983; however he passed away in August. Betty worked in various positions during her life time. She was a hostess at the Ridges Golf Course for five years, a care giver for home health care for five years, and a janitor for the Doctor's Clinic for two and one half years. Betty was an animal lover who took special care of her feathered and furry friends. She had owned many birds, cats, and a special dog, Boomer. Survivors include her seven children: Rodney L. (Mary) Panzer, Wisconsin Rapids; Sharon A. (Paul) George, Wisconsin Rapids; Linda R. Panzer, Springfield, Oregon; Steven M (Christa) Panzer; Jeffrey A. Black; Lori A. (Rendel) Mews, all of Wisconsin Rapids; seventeen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; four brothers: Vernon L. (Donna) Rogers, Pittsville, WI; Patrick E. Rogers, Wisconsin Rapids; Raymond M. Rogers, Wisconsin Rapids; Gerald M. Rogers, Wisconsin Rapids; great- aunt and uncle: Sadie and John Black; many nieces and nephews; and a very special friend Richard Wittrock. She was preceded in death by her parents, fiancé James Knoll, brother, Larry L. Panzer, half-brother Robert L. Black; and half-sister Marion (Black) Van Ert. The family requests that donations be made to the South Wood County Humane Society or The Family Center in Wisconsin Rapids. There will be no visitation or service per Betty's wishes.
