Obituary of Elroy Carl Reinicke
Elroy (Zip) Reinicke of Wisconsin Veterans Home at King, WI, passed away early Monday morning March 10, 2014 at the veteran's home following a courageous battle with cancer.
Private family services will be held at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Wisconsin Rapids. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
Zip was born in Tomahawk, WI on August 3, 1932 to Wilbur and Viola (Guthu) Reinicke.
Soon after Zip graduated from Lincoln High School he went to work for Consolidated Papers, Inc (New Page) and remained there as a loyal employee for 43 years in the shipping department.
He served his country in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict, United Nations, China services, in Hawaii, Navy Occurrence Service in the medical area, and National defense on the U.S.S. Randolph.
Zip loved working on cars, bowling, and playing baseball for the tavern league. In later years he enjoyed camping with family and friends, deer hunting, snowmobiling, watching the Packers play, and watching NASCAR races.
Zip is survived by his wife Sandy; daughter Michelle (Mike) Reber; son Monty (Kelly) Reinicke; and the loves of his life, his grandchildren: Mariah Reber, Rhett Reinicke and Taylor Reinicke; brothers and sisters: Don (Alice) Reinicke, Stone Lake, WI; Beverly (Tim) Corbin, Alabama; Ken Reinicke, Alabama and Alaska; Betty (Rolf) Kroeber, DePere, WI and Arizona; Barbara (Pat) Mahoney, Seal Beach California, along with many nieces and nephews. Zip was preceded in death by his mother and father, Wilbur and Viola Reinicke.
Zip's family would like to thank the nursing staff at King for their patience, kindness and loving care of Zip.
