Obituary of Alyce Janet Burmester
Alyce Janet Burmester, age 81, of Wisconsin Rapids, formerly of Beaver Dam, WI was born into eternal life on March 23, 2014.
Services will be at 1:30 P.M. on Thursday, March 27th at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Burial will be on Friday, March 28th in Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery in Beaver Dam, WI. Visitation will be held from 11:30 A.M. until the time of services on Thursday at the church.
Alyce was born in Marquette, WI on June 13, 1932 to Peter and Mary (Priepke) Jones. She was baptized on September 9, 1934 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Marquette. Alyce confirmed her faith in her Lord on April 14, 1946 at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Beaver Dam, WI.
On January 21, 1956 God joined Alyce and Gordon Burmester in marriage. They were blessed with 58 years of marriage and seven children.
Alyce worked at Weyenberg Shoe Factory in Beaver Dam until she retired in 1996. She also worked at Wal-Mart in Wisconsin Rapids for a short period of time.
Alyce and Gordon moved to Wisconsin Rapids and became members of St. Paul's Lutheran Church where Alyce served her Lord in various areas.
Survivors include her husband Gordon; seven children: Donald (Teri) Burmester, Cedarburg; Mary (Gregory) Rodewald, Wisconsin Rapids; Lynn Ann (David) Drake, Beaver Dam; Lori Stafford, Beaver Dam; David Burmester, Beaver Dam; Paul Burmester, Beaver Dam; Jenifer (Michael) Ludwiczak, Wisconsin Rapids; twenty grandchildren and their spouses; twelve great-grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law: David and Shirley Jones, Fond du Lac; sister-in-law: Cecelia Jones, Fond du Lac; nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, seven brothers, four sisters, grandson Nathaniel Burmester, and son-in-law Bruce Stafford.
Alyce "NaNa" was a devoted wife, mother, NaNa and great NaNa. She was a woman with an amazing faith in her Lord.
Memorials may be designated to St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church Endowment Fund.
