Obituary of Ethel Viola Richard
Ethel Viola Richard, age 97, of Wisconsin Rapids, died Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Riverview Hospital.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 29th at First English Lutheran Church. Rev. Jen Fite will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services on Saturday at the church.
Ethel was born in Castlewood, South Dakota on March 9, 1917 to Daniel and Sena Beebe. She graduated from Central High School in Superior, WI. Ethel married Carl R. Richard on September 26, 1936 in Superior.
Ethel worked as a seasonal employee for Sampson Canning Factory and Griffith State Nursery.
She was an active member of First English Lutheran Church, serving in the Ladies Aid. Ethel loved to cook and bake and enjoyed helping the ladies make lefse for the smorgasbords. She was a very kind person and loved to share her baked goods with others. Ethel was also a member of the knitting club.
Survivors include one daughter: Gloria Cavil, Sun Prairie, WI; two sons: Vernon R. (Dorothy) Richard, Frederic, WI, and Jerry (Judy) Richard, Wisconsin Rapids; eight grandchildren: Tom Cavil, Rochester, MN, Mike Cavil, West Bend, WI, Deborah Cavil, West Bend, WI, Jeri Lynn (Mike) Karbowski, Nekoosa, WI, John (Marion) Richard, Rome, WI, Timothy (Kristin) Richard, Colorado Springs, CO, Lisa (Fred) Ladwig, Wisconsin Rapids, WI, and Tonya Giese, Stevens Point, WI; seventeen great-grandchildren: Colton, Tanner, Luke, Lauryn, Jordan, Danielle, Brett, Cody (Vanessa), Cailee, Madison, Steven, Samantha, Damian, Brooke, Natasha, Bianca, and Macy Mae; two great-great-grandchildren: Cayden and Aliyah; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl, sister, Irene, brother, Curtis, and son-in-law, David Cavil.
