Obituary of Marjorie Mae Swanson
Marjorie Mae Swanson, age 88, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at her residence.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 4, 2014 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. John Grohs will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service on Friday at the church.
Marjorie was born May 10, 1925 in Wisconsin Rapids to Richard and Louise (Wittenberg) Sawaska. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids. After high school, she worked for Western Union as a teleprinter operator before becoming a full time homemaker. On May 18, 1945, she was united in marriage to Clifford Swanson in Wisconsin Rapids. They were blessed with a son Mark who passed away in 1974. Clifford passed away on November 30, 1991.
Marjorie was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid where she served as secretary for several years. She also served on the church's funeral committee. She was an avid reader and enjoyed doing puzzles. Marjorie had a sweet tooth and loved her sister June's angel cookies.
Marjorie is survived by her sister June Gilmaster; sister-in-laws Elaine Tetzloff and Gladys Sawaska; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Clifford, son Mark, sister, Marion DeBower, and brothers Edward, William and Fred Sawaska.
Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Wisconsin Rapids is assisting the family.
