Obituary of Elmer LeRoy Knuth
Elmer LeRoy Knuth, 92, Wisconsin Rapids, died Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Riverview Hospital.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 12th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Vesper. Rev. Douglas Schalow will officiate. Burial will be in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in the town of Hansen. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services on Saturday, April 12th at the church.
Elmer was born in Wisconsin Rapids, WI on May 17, 1921 to Herman and Ida (Peterson) Knuth. He received his education at Green Elm School in the town of Sherry and Wood County Ag School in Wisconsin Rapids. Elmer married Coryl I. Friday on June 6, 1953. She died May 12, 1993. Elmer married Adeline J. Lobner on October 28, 1994 and she died on November 10, 1998.
Elmer was employed in various jobs throughout his life. He farmed in the Arpin area, owned and operated Elmer's Filling Station in Vesper, worked for the Wisconsin Rapids School System as a custodian at West Junior High School, and drove school bus.
Elmer had a keen sense of humor and took great joy in telling jokes. He loved the outdoors and was quite a sportsman in his younger days. Elmer also enjoyed old time music and telling stories.
Survivors include his stepson: Jere (Arlene) Friday, Vesper; step-daughter- in-laws: Valarie Friday, Vesper; Yvonne Friday, Weyauwega; and Janice Friday, Clintonville; stepson: William W. Lobner, Sherry; step- daughter-in-law: Joyce Lobner, Sherry; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Coryl and Adeline; stepdaughter, Nancy Jepsen; stepsons: Arlyn and Daryl Friday and Arnold, Dale and Kenneth Lobner; and step-grandsons: Lynn Hansen, Mike, Brian "Scott" Friday and Dean Walgenbach.
The family would like to thank the staff at Wisconsin Rapids Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and special friend, Susie for their loving care and concern they gave to Elmer.
