Obituary of Alma Opal Linder

Alma Opal Linder, age 101, of Port Edwards, Wisconsin, formerly of Livingston, Montana, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 4, 2014 at Edgewater Haven Nursing Home in Port Edwards. Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, April 8, 2014 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Wisconsin Rapids. Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until the time of services on Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will take place on Friday, April 11th at Mountain View Cemetery in Livingston, Montana. Opal was born January 22, 1913 in Kirksville, Missouri to James A. and Elizabeth (Hays) Pinkerton. She married Harrison Linder on October 17, 1932. He passed away on September 7, 1997. Opal and Harrison farmed in the Livingston, Montana area before moving to Alaska. While in Alaska, Opal worked for the U.S. Government. After retirement, Opal and Harrison purchased a farm in Oregon and farmed there until moving back to Livingston to be closer to family. Opal later moved to Port Edwards, Wisconsin. Opal was an avid bowler, liked to garden, hunt and spend time at their cabin in the mountains. She enjoyed being with family and playing pinochle. Opal loved to cook and will be remembered for the sourdough pancakes she made every Sunday morning. Opal is survived by two daughters, Joan Hegg of Port Edwards and Barbara (Dave) Mellinger of Aurora, Colorado; 9 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 17 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, William Pinkerton of Hyshum, Montana. She was preceded in death by her parents, 8 siblings, husband Harrison, daughter Jane Combs, son-in-laws Virgil Hegg & William Combs and great-granddaughter Haley Smith.
