Obituary of Gary Ernest Dimka

Gary Ernest Dimka, 77, Wisconsin Rapids, died Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 11th at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Nekoosa. Rev. Carl Kummer will officiate. Burial will be in the New Rome Cemetery in the town of Rome. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services on Friday at the church. Gary was born in Stevens Point, WI on May 18, 1936 to Ernest and Elsie (Gustafson) Dimka. He attended PJ Jacobs High School in Stevens Point. On May 13, 2000 Gary married Joye (Olson) Schneider at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Nekoosa. Gary worked in quality control at the Port Edwards Division of Nekoosa-Edwards Paper Co. which later became Georgia- Pacific. He retired in 1994 after 40 years of service. Gary was an active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Nekoosa. He had a deep love for his Lord and had the privilege of taking several mission trips to New Mexico. Gary dearly loved his children, had a great sense of humor, and was a joy to be around. He also loved to play golf. Survivors include his wife Joye; children: Tom (Teresa) Dimka; Julie (George) Olds; Terry (Beverly) Dimka; Jill (Jeff) Miller; Jane Lundberg; Lori (Tracey) Callahan; Chris Dimka; Leanne (Jack) Zimmerman; Matthew (Karna) Dimka; Paul (Beth) Dimka; Lynn (Murray) Bell; Patty (Dean) Karnatz; Julie (Brian) Landowski; Jay Schneider; Crystal (Darren) Delaney; 38 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and brother: Glen (Susan) Dimka. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Gloria Janetski, infant sister Virginia Dimka, and grandson David Ege. Memorials may be designated to Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Nekoosa or to Navajo Missions, 2103 W Main St., Farmington, New Mexico 87401. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center is assisting the family.
