Obituary of Robert James Quinnell

Robert James Quinnell Sr. , 86, Town of Sigel, WI, went home to be with his heavenly Father and blessed Savior on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at his residence. Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 14th at Calvary Baptist Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Pastor Jack Austin will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery with military rites provided by VFW Post 2534. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, April 13th at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services on Monday at the church. Robert was born in the town of Sigel, WI on May 11, 1927 to Roy and Agnes (Haza) Quinnell. He married Ruth Irene Schudy on July 12, 1951 at Calvary Baptist Church in Wisconsin Rapids, WI. Robert was employed by Consolidated Papers Co., kraft division as a power house engineer for 39 years. He also was a partner in Quinnell's Grand View Manor. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Robert was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church. He accepted Christ as his personal savior at the age of 12. Robert served in his church as an AWANA leader, Sunday school teacher, deacon, in the jail ministry, and was a member of the choir. He also volunteered at Bearing Precious Seed of Oshkosh, WI from 1997 through 2014. Robert's favorite past time was singing Gospel songs with his brothers and telling others about his Lord and Savior. He also loved to go to Camp Fairwood in Westfield, WI, and enjoyed the numerous trips he and his wife took to Alaska. Survivors include his wife Ruth; daughters: Faye Obgartel, Bamako, Mali, West Africa; Susan (David) Doerrler, Nekoosa, WI; Kathleen (Daniel) Doerrler, Milladore, WI; Lori Messing, Stevens Point, WI; sons: Dennis (Faith) Quinnell, Wisconsin Rapids, WI; Robert Jr. (Michelle) Quinnell, Pittsville, WI; Robin Quinnell, Wisconsin Rapids, WI; and Anthony Quinnell, Wisconsin Rapids, WI; 24 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; brother: Lewellyn (Gloria) Quinnell; and sister-in-law: Vivian Quinnell. He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Agnes Quinnell; brothers Royal and Virgil Quinnell; one grandson; and one great-grandchild. Memorials may be designated to Bearing Precious Seed or Camp Fairwood. The family extends a special thank you for the wonderful care Robert, Ruth and the family received from the Ministry Health Hospice Team and to everyone who offered their prayers and visited during this difficult time.
