Obituary of Walter H. Heiser

Walter H. Heiser, 74, town of Sigel, Wood County, WI, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at the farm where he was born and raised, surrounded by his loving family. Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 28th at Calvary Baptist Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Jonathan Jenks will officiate. Burial will be in St. John's Parish Cemetery in the town of Sigel. Visitation will be on Sunday, April 27th from 4 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services on Monday at the church. Walter was born in the town of Sigel, Wood County on February 17, 1940 to John and Emma (Eichmann) Heiser. He attended the one room Pioneer School in the town of Sigel through 8th grade, graduated from Lincoln High School in 1959, and attended night school at Mid-State Technical College for welding. Walter married Jay Freeman on June 19, 1982 at St. John's Lutheran Church in the town of Sigel, Wood County. Walter was a 4th generation dairy farmer on the homestead farm where he always resided. He never had a desire to live anywhere else. In 1993 he went to work for Bohn Trucking and Excavating where he continued to work for 18 years until his retirement. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and of the Sheppard Diesel Club for many years. Walter was a jack of all trades; if something needed repairing he could fix it; if something needed to be created he wouldn't buy it, he would make it. Recently he was working on constructing a sawmill and a windmill. He also loved his tractors whether he was driving them or working on them. In his spare time Walter also enjoyed playing the accordion which he learned to play by ear. Survivors include his wife Jay A. Heiser; three daughters: Jennifer (Andrew) Boush; Stacy (Dan) Coleman; and Amber Heiser; son: John Heiser; five grandchildren: Emma, Cory, Darren and Luella Coleman and Wally Boush; sister: Ruth Moody, Nekoosa, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents, John C. and Emma Heiser; brother, William Heiser; sister-in-law: Janet Heiser; nephew: Billy Heiser; and brother-in-law: Bud Moody. Memorials may be given to the family.
