Obituary of Marilyn Marjorie Maeder

Marilyn "Jonne" Marjorie Maeder, age 78, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away early Monday morning, April 28, 2014 at the Renaissance in Wisconsin Rapids. Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Rev. John Grohs and Rev. Timothy Ritter will officiate. Burial will be in Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. on Wednesday at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center and Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at the church. Marilyn was born in the town of Saratoga, WI on May 13, 1935 to John M. and Ruth (Anderson) Johnson. She married Richard E. Maeder on July 17, 1954 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Marilyn attended Lone Birch School in Rudolph, WI, Howe School, Lincoln Jr. High School and graduated from Lincoln High School in May of 1953. She worked at Wood County Telephone Company, at Anderson Drug Store and at Riverhill Dental from 1974 until her retirement in March of 1995. Marilyn was a longtime, active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church serving in various capacities. She was also a member of the River City Ya-Ya Red Hat Club, Wisconsin Rapids Women's Christian Club, the Wednesday morning Homestead golf group, and volunteered at Riverview Hospital. Her God, church, husband, and family were the love of her life. Marilyn also loved traveling with her husband, Richard to all parts of the world. They visited all of Europe, Scandinavian Countries, United Kingdom, North Africa, the Maritimes, all 50 United States, much of Canada and Mexico and went on five cruises. Survivors include her husband Richard; daughter: Rhonda (Gary) Thompson, Wisconsin Rapids, WI; son: Michael (Carol) Maeder, Gladstone, MI; seven grandchildren: Kallie (Bryan) Keith, Katie (Drew) Urban, Mathew, Mark, Emily, and Luke Maeder, and Sarah (Anthony) Molina; five great-grandchildren: Denali, Phoenix, Ducati, Christian, and Bryleigh; sisters: Lorraine Abbott, Helen Kussman, and Jean (Al) Grimm, all of Wisconsin Rapids; Delores (Thomas) Reffner, Rudolph, WI, and Arlene (Greg) Martin, Reeseville, WI; brothers: Stanley (Mary) Johnson, Stantonville, TN, and Ronald (Jackie) Johnson, Bellevue, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter Pamela Sue, father and mother-in-law Ezra and Sophia (Saeger) Maeder, brothers-in-law Norman Abbott and Lyle Kussman, Arvid and Llewellen Maeder, sister-in-law Jeanette Maeder, and nephew Matthew Grimm. The family would like to thank the staff of Ministry Home Care Hospice and Renaissance Assisted Living for their exceptional care and concern for Marilyn. Memorials may be designated to the Immanuel Lutheran School Ministry Fund or to Ministry Home Care Hospice.
