Obituary of Leonard O. Schroer
Leonard O. Schroer, age 81, of Wisconsin Rapids, died Sunday evening, May 11, 2014 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Saratoga Moravian Church. Rev. Olaf Anderson will officiate. Burial will be at Pioneer Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services on Thursday at the church.
Leonard was born November 4, 1932 in Wisconsin Rapids to Oscar and Ruth (Hansen) Schroer. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids in 1951. He served his country in the United States Army. He married Avis Olson on June 28, 1958 in Wisconsin Rapids. The couple was blessed with 55 years of marriage.
Leonard owned and operator his own sawmill for over 40 years. He loved being outside in the woods, whether he was logging or riding around on his ATVs. He was an active member of Saratoga Moravian Church, served on the Board of Directors, and helped build the new church. He was also a member of American Legion Post 9 in Wisconsin Rapids.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Avis; two sons: Daniel (Lynn) Schroer and Edward (Andrea) Schroer; and five grandchildren: Adam Schroer, Josh Uttermark, Caleb Schroer, Grant Schroer, and Eden Schroer. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Russell Schroer.
