Obituary of Jere Marvin Manz
Jere Marvin Manz, age 73, of Wisconsin Rapids, died Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Pastor Timothy Wenger will officiate. Burial will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services on Saturday at the church. Jere Marvin Manz was born August 16, 1942 in Wisconsin Rapids to Walter and Dorothy (Zuege) Manz. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1964. Jere worked as a roll wrapper for Consolidated Paper Company in Wisconsin Rapids. He married Carole Cornelius in February of 1991 on his Cousin Doug's shrimp boat in Texas. They were blessed with 25 years of married life together.
He was an avid hunter and fishermen who loved the outdoors. Jere loved to take his grandchildren crawdad hunting. He loved traveling and could be seen riding his Harley (moped) around town. Jere also enjoyed making his own homemade alcohol. He, most of all, loved spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Carole; children: Lori Smith and Shelly Groshek; step-children: Scott, Cindy (Steve), Sheryl (Don), Lori (Richard), and Kent; grandchildren: Kallie (Joe) Behn, Katrina Smith, Matt Bush, Kody Smith, Seth Groshek, Dalton Groshek, and Arielle Groshek; and great-grandchildren: Tara, Austin, Caden, Karson, and Tristen.Jere was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Dorothy Manz; and his brothers Jim and Bob.
