Obituary of Shirley Ann Johnson

Shirley Ann Johnson, age 78, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, October 5, 2014 at her residence. Services will be 11:00 A.M. on Thursday October 9, 2014 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Pastor John Grohs and Pastor Timothy Ritter will officiate. Entombment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery Mausoleum. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and again 10:00 A.M. until the time of service Thursday at the church. Shirley was born May 16, 1936 in Dassel, Minnesota to J. Herbert and Lillie Isabel (Johnson) Johnson. Shirley and Myron Richard Johnson were united in marriage November 26, 1955 in Darwin, Minnesota. They were blessed with three children. Shirley loved her family, she was always there for her children, and very proud of her grandchildren. It had been a tradition for Shirley to host the entire family for many holiday dinners. Shirley would travel to attend every family event. She was a fantastic gardener and a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Shirley had worked for and retired from JC Penny. Shirley would drive her friends and go out for lunch the first Wednesday of every month. Shirley is survived by three children: Bradley (Kris Peters) Johnson of Seymour, WI, Debra (Dave) Simonis of Stevens Point, Dawn Johnson of Hewitt; Grandchildren: Peter (Hillary) Johnson, James (Kelly) Johnson, Nathan (Kristin) Simonis, Anne Simonis, Adrienne Hoffman and Jayna Hoffman; Great grandchildren: Jack Simonis, Madelyn Simonis, Calvin Johnson and Frederick Johnson; Two sisters: Janet (Vernon) Pearson and Gail (Richard) Burkstrand; She was preceded in death by her husband, Myron and her parents.
