Obituary of Mabel C. Klawitter

Mabel C. Klawitter, age 95, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at Arborview Court, surrounded by her loving family. Services will be held at 12:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Deacon James Johnston will officiate. Burial will take place at Mountain Cemetery in Mountain, WI. Visitation will be from 9:30 A.M. until the time of service on Saturday at the church. Herman-Taylor Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family. Mabel was born on November 4, 1920 to Walter and Clara (Kryzanek) Longard in Maple Valley, Wisconsin. She attended grade schools in Oconto County and graduated from high school in Green Bay. She married Kenneth Klawitter and was blessed with this marriage until his passing in 1974. They lived in Appleton, Suring, Gillett, and West Allis. Mabel moved to Wisconsin Rapids in 1978. She worked at Riverview Hospital until her retirement. She was a faithful member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church. Mabel was an active member of the Women's Ministry, Senior Women's bible study group, and the Wisconsin Rapids Senior Citizen Club. Mable is survived by her children: Reginald (Jean) Klawitter of New Berlin, WI; Carol (Charles) Korn of Wisconsin Rapids; Michael Klawitter of New Berlin, WI; Jeanne David of Hartland, WI; Linda Clark of Superior, WI; JoNell MacCoy of Wauwautosa, WI; and Mark (Lori) Klawitter of New Berlin, WI; 20 grandchildren, and 37 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Klawitter; parents, Walter and Clara Longard; brothers, Peter Longard and Paul Longard. Another brother, Harvey Longard, who died in France during World War II; and son-in-law, James David.
