Obituary of David A Stelzer
David A. Stelzer, 72, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away on September 7, 2016 at North Ridge Assisted Living in Stevens Point, WI.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2016 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids.
David was born in Wisconsin Rapids, WI on June 2, 1944 to Joseph and Genevieve (VanDeLoop) Stelzer. He graduated from Assumption High School in 1963. He married Kelli (Krieger) on May 5, 2000 in Rudolph, WI.
David served in the U.S. Army as a Personnel Specialist from February 1964 to 1967. He also received the National Defense Service Medal. He then began work at Domtar and retired after 39 years in 2005.
David was involved with the Big Brothers organization and was a volunteer firefighter for the Town of Grand Rapids for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping and especially his walks around Lake Wazeecha. David enjoyed spending time with Kelli at their cabin in Hayward, WI for the past nineteen years. He loved watching the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers football.

Sister-in-laws and Brother-in-laws: Cheryl Krieger, Pat (John) Lila and Kay Passow, St. Point, WI, Curt (Deb) Krieger, Deb (Roger) Honeyager, Kevin (Missy) Krieger and Kris Krieger Wisconsin Rapids, WI, Dennis (Deb) Krieger, Plover, WI and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Genevieve Stelzer, maternal grandparents, mother-in-law and father-in-law John and Dolores Krieger, brother-in-law, Doug Peterson and special friend Richard (Otto) Arndt and many aunts and uncles.
The family would like to thank the staff at North Ridge Assisted Living, Ministry Hospice and CCCW of Portage County for their loving and devoted care for Dave during his final six month journey. They were our "special angels".
