Obituary of Jerome L. Tischendorf

Jerome L. Tischendorf, "Tisch", age 70, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away peacefully, Sunday, August 2, 2015, at his residence at Big Musky Resort in Hayward, WI. A memorial visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Military honors will be rendered by American Legion Post #9. Jerry was born on a cool morning, October 12th, 1944, to Gustav and Bernice (Bray) Tischendorf in Arpin, WI. He attended Arpin and Meadowbrook grade schools. Jerry worked on the Bulgrin and Tomfohrde farms while he went to high school in Auburndale. In high school, he was very active in athletics but didn't care much about the classroom! He participated on the State Baseball Championship team of 1960. He was scheduled to be inducted into the Marshfield Area Baseball Hall of Fame on August 8, 2015 and was looking forward to this honor. After graduation in 1962, Jerry served in the U.S. Navy as a fire control technician on the U.S.S. Hornet until his honorable discharge in August of 1965. He married Nancy L. Tesser in October 1966, which ended in divorce. He later married Jackalyn Aughey in the Bahamas in January 1998. She survives. He was employed at the Port Edwards paper mill as a pipefitter, by various companies, from September 1965 until retirement in May 2005, after nearly 40 years of service. Tisch enjoyed the outdoors, people and traveling. He was an avid fisherman, especially fishing 'The Big Chip". In 1969, he was awarded "Fisherman of the Week" in Hayward, catching a 29+ pound, 47.5 inch musky and still proudly displays the mount today. Survivors include his wife, Jackie, his two daughters; Wendy (James) Eron, and Tracy Tischendorf, his sister; Loretta (James) Follen, stepson; Mark (Pauline) Bires, stepdaughter, Amy (Jeff) Coulthurst and grandchildren: Nicole, Kalie and Taylor Bires, Roger Rakovec, Rachel Eron and Maxwell Coulthurst and four great grandchildren. Jerry was preceded in death by an infant brother, Ronald, and his parents. This obituary was prewritten by Tisch himself. Remember - Enjoy life one day at a time and God Bless You All.
