Obituary of Keith Gordon Hafermann

Keith Gordon Hafermann, age 84, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away on September 10, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family in Wisconsin Rapids. Services will be 11:00 A.M. on Monday September 14, 2015 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev Timothy Ritter will officiate. Entombment will be at Forest Hill Mausoleum. Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2015 from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and on Monday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service at the church. Keith was born on May 30, 1931 in Wisconsin Rapids to Ervin and Esther (Freeman) Hafermann. He served his country honorably in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. Keith married Bonalyn Bulgrin on October 2, 1954 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids; they were blessed with 60 years together. He was employed by the United States Postal Service for 38 years before his retirement. Keith was a very active member of the community. He served on the Forest Hill Cemetery Board and the Wood County Postal Credit Union Board. He was a proud member of the VFW and was honored to be an Honor Flight participant in May of 2013. Keith was a long time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. He liked to spend time outdoors deer, turkey and small game hunting and fishing. Keith enjoyed golfing and playing cards. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather who loved watching his grandchildren's activities. Keith is survived by his wife Bonalyn ; children: Debra (Todd) Schelvan, Terri (Daniel) Walczak, Barbara (Jon) Walczak and Shellie (Daniel) Guck; grandchildren: Trent Schelvan, Natasha (Andrew) Gutacker, Carissa (Jason) Dolens, Amber Walczak, Zachary (Cassandra) Walczak, Jacob Walczak, Chelsea Walczak, Brandon Guck, and Carson Guck; great-grandchildren: Tanner Schelvan, Tristan Schelvan, Ty Schelvan, Madelyn Gutacker, Jack Gutacker, Vivian Dolens and Jemma Walczak; as well as many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Ervin and Esther, brother Donald Hafermann and his parents-in-law Leonard and Irma Bulgrin. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Ho, Dr. Kirschling and their staff; especially Marilyn and to the Aspirus Comfort Care Hospice Team.
