Obituary of John F. Rentflejs
John F. Rentflejs, 80, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2016 at Appleton Medical Center in Appleton, WI.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. on Monday, September 26, 2016 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. Burial will be at a later date in New York.
John was born in Buffalo, NY on May 31, 1936 to Casimer and Cecelia (Klaus) Rentflejs. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Klahn on March 2, 1968 in West Valley, NY.
Johns retired from the Navy after 20 years; during those years he served as a Navy Intelligence Clerk. He also was a Vietnam Veteran. John worked for the State of New York helping mentally challenged individuals in group homes. He loved to watch the Buffalo Bills and Pittsburgh Steelers. John loves traveling with his wife to Las Vegas and visiting family in Japan, New York City and Hawaii. He was a very active in his church, St. Vincent De Paul. It was very important to him to support different charitable organizations, like Make a Wish Foundation, St. Judes and local Veterans groups. He especially enjoyed his morning coffee group that met every day. John was a devoted family man and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
John is survived by his wife: Kathleen; three children: Noelle (Travis) Tetzlaff, Wis. Rapids, Mark (Eddie) Rentflejs, Brooklyn, NY, Marie (Todd) White, Fredericksburg, VA; five grandchildren: Brendon Rentflejs, Sydney and Ian Tetzlaff, Kathleen Michael, Emily White; two sisters: Joan Cialfi, Elizabeth Rost and many nieces and nephews.
John was preceded in death by his parents: Casimer and Cecelia, and his brother: Casimer.
