Obituary of Inez Neufeld

Inez Mae (Marti) Neufeld, age 95, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away peacefully, Saturday, December 5, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family. Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, December 10, 2015 at First Congregational Church UCC in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. Micah Schlobohm will officiate. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 9, 2015 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids and on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services at the church. Inez was born February 11, 1920 on the family farm in the town of Hansen to A.P. and Mary (Hamel) Bean. She married Orville Marti on June 22, 1939; they were blessed with 43 years of marriage before his death in 1982. She was united in marriage to Harold Neufeld in 1988, he passed away in 2007. Inez attended the Bean School on the family farm and graduated from Lincoln High School as a member of the class of 1938. That same year she was crowned Dairy Queen of Wood County. Inez was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society for 20 years. She was a member of the Democratic Party. She served the City of Wisconsin Rapids on the Election Board. Inez was very involved with her children's education and served as president of the PTA. She was an active member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. In her later years, Inez became an avid Brewers and Badgers fan. She loved gardening and baking, and was known for her cinnamon rolls and plum pudding. Inez was a very active member of the First Congregational Church UCC in Wisconsin Rapids. She served in many roles including: the Mayflower and Bradford Circles, Deaconess, President of the Women's Fellowship, and sang with the Seasoned Sabbath Singers. She was happiest when she was serving her Lord by serving others, and most proud of being a good mother. Inez is survived by eight children: Gloria (Walter) Oravez, Ramona (Myron) Lubeck, Mary (Richard) Trailer, Linda (Wally) Ives, Rod (Nancy) Marti, Peggy (Bill) Sommerfeldt, Jody (James) Bergeson, and Barbara (Mike) Kempfert; twenty-one grandchildren: Michael Oravez, Laury Jensen, Kevin (Jane) Lubeck, Vicky (Jeff) Calawerts, Mark (Jodi) Lubeck, Kerri (Karl) Kliminski, Kristi (Jim) Hohlstein, Michele (Kevin) Statz, Jason (Stephanie) Ives, Chris (Lindsay) Marti, Corey Marti, Jennifer (Jody) Clements, Nichole (Josh) Sanger, Skeets (Stacy) Sommerfeldt, Angela (Matthew) Lawrence, Andrew (Samantha) Bergeson, Daniel Bergeson, Meagan (Joe) Hardwick, Matthew Kempfert, Caitlin Kempfert, and Collin Kempfert; thirty-one great-grandchildren: Jacob, Matthew, Aaron (Julia), Karleen (David), Lindsay, Jordan, Dylan, Wesley, Vince, Rachelle, Rylan, Whitley, Wyler, Kaitlyn, Kayla, Cassie, Cory, Connor, Katya, Alex, Gavin, James, Emmalynn, Kinley, Kenna, Brynn, Mason, Hudson, Logan, Benson, and Baby Boy Sommerfeldt; and three great-great grandchildren: Jayden, Cameron, and Aurora; and sisters-in law: Ingrid Marti, Betty (Eugene) Szelagowski, and Shirley Pavlik. She was preceded in death by her parents, A.P. and Mary Bean; husbands, Orville Marti and Harold (Snow) Neufeld; great-grandchildren, Lukas Lubeck and Jackson Sanger; siblings: Eva Bean, Everett Bean, Walter Bean, Viola Winch, Nina Finnegan, Howard Bean, Lila Deck, Russell Bean, and Chester Bean; sisters and brothers-in-law: Harold Marti, Viola (George) Passineau, Rueben (Evelyn) Marti, Marvin (Fern) Marti, Dorothy (Jim) Serchen, Merlin (Joyce) Marti, and Gordon Pavlik.
