Obituary of Rolland Lieber

Rolland "Rollie" C. Lieber, age 79, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away December 20, 2015 at Aspirus Riverview Hospital. Services will be 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids. Rev. John Grohs and Timothy Ritter will officiate. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and from 10:00 A.M. until the time of service on Wednesday at the church. Rolland was born on December 12, 1936 to Arthur and Ruth (Erdman) Lieber in Wisconsin Rapids. On September 30, 1961 Rolland married Diane Jepson at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wisconsin Rapids; the couple was blessed with 54 years of marriage and two children. Rolland was employed by Consolidated Papers Inc. as a Quality Control Technician for 42 years before his retirement in 1998. Rollie was a dedicated family man who loved nothing more than spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was passionate about sports and enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers but his favorite game to watch was one with his children or grandchildren participating. Never one to miss a game he thrived on cheering them on from the stands and occasionally making sure that the referees were paying attention. Rollie loved to travel; he and his family enjoyed 43 years of vacationing at Little Spider Lake in the summer. Fishing was one of Rollie's favorite pastimes. He was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, served as an usher for 30 years, and was a member of the church softball league and Men's Club. Rollie was also a member of the Sons of Norway, Central Wisconsin Walleye Club and two bowling leagues: Senior and Monday Night. Rollie is survived by his wife Diane, son Scott (Julie) Lieber of Wisconsin Rapids, daughter Amy (Scott) Petersen of Wisconsin Rapids, granddaughter Sydney and grandson Dalton, brother, Calvin Lieber (Ruth Hoffman) of Wisconsin Rapids, as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents: Art and Ruth Lieber; mother and father-in-law: Peter and Bernice Jepson; brother, Art Lieber, sister-in-law Patti Lieber and brother-in-law Bob Jepson. A memorial for Rollie will be established at a later date.
