Obituary of Violet Rose Nelson

Violet Rose Nelson, 92, of Arpin, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 21. Violet was born at home on March 9, 1923 to Hjalmar and Edith Ditmar. She attended Shady Nook School, graduating from Marshfield High School in 1940 and County Normal Teacher's College in 1942. She taught at Oak Leaf, Maple Grove and Dairy Belt Schools before attending the Free Church Bible Institute in Chicago, IL in 1945. She met her future husband, Paul Nelson, in 1946, and they were united in marriage in 1948. They served as missionaries in Hazard, Kentucky and dorm parents at the FCBI until Paul completed seminary. Dedicating their lives to the Lord, together they served churches in Kennedy, Texas; Enderlin, North Dakota; Hancock, Minnesota, and central Wisconsin. They lovingly raised a family. Violet graduated from UWSP in 1968 and taught at Spencer Elementary School, retiring in 1988. Violet was active in the Hospital Chaplain Ministry with Paul for 42 years until his retirement in 2009. Violet remained vibrant and involved through music and letter writing and Curves to the end of her life. She is survived by her children, Jonathan and Sharon Nelson, Skowhegan, ME; Priscilla and Charles Kite, Wisconsin Rapids, WI; Susan and Charles Renner, Arpin, WI; grandchildren Natasha and Matthew Foster (great grandchildren, Kaira, Luke and Mark), Tyler and Erin Nelson, Tamara Nelson and Kate Renner. Violet was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, 3 children, sisters Ruthie and Lorraine, and her parents. A memorial service will be held at Community Bible Church in Stratford Sunday, December 27 at 3:00 p.m. followed by a luncheon.
