Obituary of Robert Arthur Meddaugh

Robert Arthur Meddaugh, age 77, of Grand Rapids, passed away at his home on Tuesday, August 28, 2018.

Robert was born on September 3, 1940, in Chicago, IL, to Edward and Helen. Robert proudly served his country in both the Army and Air Force. He especially enjoyed his time in Italy and Okinawa. While stationed at the Calumet Radar Station in Michigan, he met his future wife, Lois Olli. They married on May 17, 1966, in Hammond, IN.

Robert owned and operated Rapids Refrigeration and Appliances for nearly 45 years. He enjoyed classic cars and spent many years restoring a 1965 Triumph TR4A. He was also skilled at remodeling and completed many updates to their home over the years.

Robert is survived by his loving wife, Lois; his children: Sandra (James) Gronski of Mosinee and Pamela (Scott) Yetter of Wisconsin Rapids; and his grandchildren: Jamie Gronski of Mosinee and Abigail and Allison Yetter of Wisconsin Rapids, whom he fondly referred to as his “Vice Presidents”.  In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by three brothers: Donald, Frances, and Edward; and a sister, Lorraine.

Graveside services, with full military honors, will be conducted on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. at Forest Hill Cemetery and Mausoleum.  Herman-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Center is honored to be assisting the family at this difficult time.
