Obituary of Rose Ann M. Crowns
Rose Ann M. Crowns, 74, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away in the loving company of her family on Wednesday, May 30, 2018. She fought a courageous fight against cancer of the liver for 18 long months.
She was born at home on Sep. 15, 1943, in Auburndale, to the late Russell and Rosella (Pelot) Schara, and was a 1961 graduate of Lincoln High School in Wisconsin Rapids, and later attended and graduated from the Marvel Beauty School in Milwaukee. She owned and operated Crown Boutique for over 50 years.
Rose Ann was married to Denis Crowns on Nov. 16, 1963, at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church.
She spoke on behalf of Pro Life issues for over 50 years; formed multiple rosary groups throughout central Wisconsin; was instrumental in the passing of the Parental Consent bill; and formed and organized the purchase and placement of the life-sized Nativity Scene in Wisconsin Rapids.
Rose Ann loved and cherished all children and adults, helping out others in her community. She owned, cared for and nurtured numerous animals (too many to count)! Also, she was the Miss Golden Sands Festival Queen in 1962 and she enjoyed working as a hair stylist for the Miss Wisconsin Pageant.
Survivors include her husband, Denis; daughter; Natalie B. Hansen of Minneapolis; son, Jeffrey D. Crowns of Nekoosa; daughter, Heather R. (Ted) Ironside of Kaukauna; grandchildren, Macey Ironside, Connor Hansen, Rose Crowns, Grant Ironside, Noah Hansen, Taylor Ironside, Grace Crowns and Abigail Hansen. She is further survived by her sisters, Patricia (Charles) Fox, Julie (Russ) Roy and Margaret “Peggy” Grutzek; and brother-in-law, David Huisheere.
In addition to her parents, Rose Ann was preceded in death by her brother, Russell Joseph Schara, Jr.; and sisters, Dorothy Jane Schara, Linda Lou Schara and Barbara Lynn Huisheere.
The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, June 4, 2018, at Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids with the Rev. James Altman officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will begin with the rosary being prayed at 4 p.m. on Sunday and continue until 8 p.m. at the Herman-Taylor Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at the funeral home on Monday morning from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. A procession will then leave the funeral home to the church.
