Richard was born December 5, 1929 in Milwaukee, WI to Albert and Elizabeth (Bartelt) Lucht. He married Mildred “Ruth” Key on March 31, 1951 in Milwaukee, WI. She preceded him in death on November 21, 2004.
Richard was employed as a pharmaceutical rep for Yahr-Lange Drug Company until his retirement.
He enjoyed woodworking, golfing, fishing and time on his front porch. He especially enjoyed trips to Florida and Door County with his beloved wife, Ruth, and sitting by the water watching the waves and sunsets.
“Lucky” as he became known, was very active with the Heart of Wisconsin Chamber of Commerce Ambassador Group. He was awarded Ambassador of the Year in 2008 and was named Citizen of the Year in 2010. He was an active participant in the Summer Hummer Golf Tournament, missing only this year’s event.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church since moving to Wisconsin Rapids from Milwaukee in 1955. He started Lutheran Boy Pioneers and held many offices within the church including Superintendent of the Sunday School for 24 years. His faith was strong to the end as he recited the Lord’s Prayer in his final hour.
Richard is survived by his daughter, Kathleen (Ron) Verkuilen of Milwaukee and their children: Matthew (Rachel) of Louisville, KY and David (Heather) of Borden, IN; Linda Lucht of Wisconsin Rapids; and son, John (Wendy) Lucht and their twins Hailey and Hunter all of Palmyra, WI; sister-in-law, Beverly Radske; brother-in-law, Charles (Jan) Key; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Ruth, brother, Helmuth “Red” Lucht, and sisters: Elenore Demlsky and Ruth Snyder.
