Obituary of Gladys Romansky
Gladys Romansky, age 84, formally of Port Edwards, WI, passed away peacefully Tuesday, February 13, 2018 in Plymouth, MN.
Services will be held on Saturday March 10, 2018 at 11:00am at Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Edwards. Pastor Daniel Bohn will officiate. Burial will follow at Port Edwards Municipal Cemetery. Visitation will be 9:30 until time of service at the church.
Gladys was born on March 26, 1933 in Pittsville, WI to Fred and Mildred (Edgerly) Gachnang. She was married to Ervin Romansky for 52 years. Gladys was employed at the Mead Inn hotel as a waitress for many years. She then transferred to Consolidated Papers where she worked in various positions. Her most memorable job was being the first woman semi-truck driver for the company. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling south to Florida for the winter, country music and the Green Bay Packers.
Gladys was a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and active in the Ladies Aid, Alter Guild, choir and served as an usher in the church. Gladys also was an active driver for Home Delivered Meals.
Gladys moved to Minnesota in 2015 to be closer to her children. She enjoyed living at Cornerstone apartments and seeing her children everyday of the week. She participated in daily planned activities and often went on bus trips in the community. She enjoyed being a part of activities where she could be helpful and also enjoy the company of others. She made a lot of new friends at Cornerstone and will be missed by all.
She is survived by her children: Pam (Lyle) Smith, Rockford, MN, Jim (Val) Romansky, Excelsior, MN and Judy Ohm, Burnsville, MN She has five grandchildren: Alan (Mindi) Smith, Stevens Pont, Wi Katy and Joe Romansky, Excelsior, MN and Brian and Dylan Ohm, California. Gladys also has three great grandchildren Alysondra, Arianna and Ayden Smith.
Gladys has one surviving brother, Leo (Shirley) Gachnang and one sister, Dorothy Klendar.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gladys can be made to Home Delivered Meals, through Aspirus-Riverview Hospital, Wis. Rapids, WI.
