Obituary of Julia D. Houchin

Julia Dawn Houchin, age 50, of Wisconsin Rapids, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 20, 2017 at Arborview Court in Wisconsin Rapids.

Julia was born October 25, 1966 in Decatur, Illinois to Ronald and Carole (Jewell) Houchin.  Julia, who was born with Downs Syndrome, lived a full and extraordinary life.

Julia had a deep childlike faith in her Lord Jesus Christ.  She loved reading Holy Scripture, singing hymns, and being a prayer warrior.  Julia had a pure heart, symbolized by her angel collection. She taught herself sign language and had the ability to teach it to many other people.  Julia had a fondness for animals and flowers. She enjoyed musicals, Disney movies, especially anything with princesses, I Love Lucy, and watching figure skating.  Julia had a deep belly laugh that will never be forgotten.  She is loved and will be deeply missed. Our loss is Heavens gain.

Julia is survived by her mother, Carole Ann Houchin, Wisconsin Rapids; father, Ronald (Donna) Houchin, Sarasota, FL; brothers: William T. (Mary) Houchin, Wisconsin Rapids, Richard D. (Lori) Houchin, Port Edwards, Joshua (Elizabeth) Houchin, Bolingbrook, IL; sister Colleen Houchin, Wisconsin Rapids; nieces and nephews:  Stephanie (Vincent) Santilli, Wisconsin Rapids, Dylan Houchin, Wisconsin Rapids, Sierra Houchin, Port Edwards, Anakin and Angelina Houchin, Bolingbrook, IL, and Craessada, Isaiah, and Anessa Davidson, Bolingbrook, IL; great nieces and nephews: Daxian, and Lolaila Santilli and Aiden Houchin; and  aunt and uncle, Evan (Dixie) Dickins.  She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

A Life Celebration gathering will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2017 (which would have been her 51st birthday), from 12:00 P.M. until 2:00 P.M. followed by a memorial service at Herman-Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. 

The family would like to send their sincere expression of gratitude and love to the staff at Arborview Court.  They would further like to thank Paige and the staff of Heartland Hospice.
